The Eric R. Thorpe '89 Memorial Fund for Community Outreach continues to honor Rick's legacy at Lafayette. Every year, the Thorpe Fund provides valuable support for Lafayette students engaged in both the Alternative School Break Leadership training (ASB) program and in meal service to the Third Street Alliance for Women and Children Since the fund was established, more than $170,000 has been contributed in Rick's memory.

The 2020-21 academic year at Lafayette will mark the 28th year that ASB has sent students domestically and internationally to support critical community service projects. Students interested in managing these projects, have the unique opportunity to develop and practice their skills through the ASB Leadership training that the Thorpe Fund supports. Last January, thirty-four Lafayette College ASB students participated in diverse projects ranging from a refugee settlement in Atlanta, Ga., to the U.S./Mexico border wall in Arizona, and to Honduras, to mentor female community leaders. Each trip focused on advocacy as well as educational elements, providing all of the students with experiences and skills they will be able to use for a lifetime.

As classes have moved to a virtual format at Lafayette this fall, both ASB Leadership and the Third Street Alliance are being supported in creative ways. Students involved in ASB are actively working to develop new education and awareness events. Thanks, in part to the support provided by the Thorpe Fund, the group is planning an ASB Alumni Event, as well as an ASB Talk Series focused on creating meaningful dialogue around specific social issues. Additionally, students working with the Third Street Alliance continue to collect items to donate and also are working with the organization to promote voter awareness and turnout within the local community.

During his time at Lafayette, Eric was passionate about helping others. We are happy and proud to report that your support continues to impact not only Lafayette students, but people in need in Easton, around the country, and the world.

Thank you,
